MALAWI
In 2006 I was involved in a yearly trip to Senzani, Malawi to visit an Adopt-a-Village project set up by a church my parents went to, Orchard Grove Community Church. I met the group of people I was to spend the next week with, for the first time at the airport the day of the flight. Over the next week my newly acquainted friends and I spent each day visiting primary, secondary schools, and pre-schools. Along with several community programs, which covered efforts such as obtaining clean drinking water, to HIV/AIDS. We also managed to fit in some time to take a river boat ride into a national park. This trip really opened my eyes to some true tragedies in the world. Even with the many obstacles facing the people in Malawi, they are still so happy and giving of themselves. They call Malawi "the warm heart of africa" and they are right. It's a warmth I still feel in my heart even now.
